  1. What is the State Employee Directory Search?
The state employee directory is a Web-based searchable listing of classified state employees that is Provided as a service by the Department of Human Resource Management. [top]
  2. What is the source of information for the directory?
Data for the directory comes from the state's Personnel Management Information System (PMIS). PMIS is maintained by the Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM). State agencies are responsible for updating the information about their employees in PMIS. [top]
  3. Why are some phone numbers not available?
Not all state employees have a work telephone number listed. To update the information, the employee must contact their HRO. [top]
  4. Why is it that some of the employees cannot be emailed?
Not all employees have an email address. Currently email addresses for 103381 employees are listed. [top]
  5. Why are some agencies not included in the directory?
Although 205 agencies are represented, a small number of state agencies do not currently contribute to PMIS; however, to accommodate this, DHRM has developed procedures for the acceptance of input from these agencies. In the meantime, you may wish to call these agencies directly. Use the online State Agency Directory Search feature or contact the State Operator at (804) 786-0000 or (800) 422-2319 for assistance. [top]
  6. How large is the directory?
Currently, 103381 state employees, representing 205 agencies, are listed in the directory. (See Summary Counts.) [top]
  7. How accurate is the information in the directory?
The point of origin for the information is each agency's Human Resources Office (HRO). The accuracy is dependent upon the effort within each HRO to ensure the currency of each employee's record in PMIS. Employees have a responsibility to notify their HRO whenever a change in name, phone number, or email address occurs. [top]
  8. How often is the directory information updated?
The state's Personnel Management Information System (PMIS) is updated automatically whenever the agency HRO executes an update transaction. Changes will be reflected in the State Employee Directory the next business day. [top]
  9. How do I correct missing or incorrect information?
State employees are encouraged to check the accuracy of their information and report corrections directly to their Agency Human Resources Office (HRO) for an update of their PMIS information. Please do not contact VITA or DHRM directly. Corrections must be entered into PMIS by the agency HRO. (Read more) [top]
  10. How can I exclude my name from the directory?
Although the intent of the directory is to provide a complete listing of state employees, it is recognized there may be extenuating circumstances that warrant the exclusion of an employee's name from the directory. Procedures addressing this process have been included in the PMIS training presented by DHRM to agency human resource personnel. Please contact your agency's HRO. [top]
  11. How can I go about getting my agency included?
Ask your Agency Director or Human Resources Director to contact the DHRM Help Desk for details. [top]
  12. How can I print the search results page and other pages?
Use the "Print This Page" button or select File and then Print in the upper left of the browser. [top]
  13. How can I ask for clarification about this directory or suggest improvements to the directory search?
Questions or suggestions for improvements in the functionality of the State Employee Directory Search may be sent to the DHRM Help Desk. [top]
